Toyota Trinidad & Tobago Introduces the All-New Hilux

Toyota’s reputation is well established in Trinidad & Tobago and around the world. Locally, much of that success is built on the Hilux, a pickup that has earned the trust of owners through its reputation for durability, reliability and versatility. It is a familiar sight on construction sites, farms and roadways across the country, and the latest generation aims to expand on that legacy.

Developed around Toyota’s “Tough and Agile” philosophy, the all-new Hilux adopts a more commanding appearance. The redesigned front end features a bold grille and slim, sharply styled headlights, giving the pickup a more aggressive presence without straying too far from its familiar identity. Under the bonnet, the Hilux is powered by a 2.8L turbocharged diesel engine, with a towing capacity of up to 3,500 kg. The Hilux is also equipped with disc brakes at all four wheels, providing a modern braking setup to complement its performance and work capabilities.

At the rear, an integrated step provides easier access to the cargo bed, a welcome addition for those who regularly load and unload equipment. The redesigned tailgate also adopts a more muscular appearance, further emphasizing the truck’s tough character.

Another practical detail worth noting is the shape of the wheel arches within the cargo bed. They are less intrusive than those found in some competing pickups, leaving more usable space for loading and providing greater flexibility when transporting cargo.

Inside, the Hilux receives a more modern cabin designed to balance comfort with functionality. Buyers can choose between fabric and leather upholstery, while the dashboard incorporates a digital instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system.

Toyota has also retained physical controls for key functions, including the climate system, drive modes and differential lock. The controls for selecting 2H, 4H and 4L are also conveniently positioned, allowing drivers to access the relevant settings without having to navigate through touchscreen menus.

The all-new Toyota Hilux represents a considered evolution of a proven formula. Its updated exterior, refreshed interior and practical design improvements bring it in line with modern expectations, while preserving the qualities that have made the nameplate so popular.
