Proton Trinidad & Tobago, through its local dealer Ansa Motors, has officially introduced the All-New Proton X50 to the market. While it may present itself as a facelift, this update goes deeper, bringing subtle but meaningful changes beneath the surface.

At its core, the X50 is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, producing 181PS (178HP) and 290Nm of torque, paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It’s a combination that promises a responsive and engaging drive.

Visually, the updates are immediately noticeable. Sharper lines and a more assertive stance give the X50 a stronger road presence, refining what was already a well-received design.

Step inside, and the evolution continues. The cabin takes on a more minimalistic and tech-forward approach, with most controls now integrated into a large 14.6-inch infotainment display. One of the more notable changes is the shift to a column-mounted gear selector, freeing up space and aligning with trends seen in more premium offerings. This redesign also introduces additional storage solutions, including a practical shelf layout that enhances everyday usability.

Being part of the Geely Group, Proton continues to benefit from a strong technological backbone. The X50 comes equipped with an extensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including Auto Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Sign Information, and Rear Collision Warning, features that add an extra layer of confidence behind the wheel.

Also highlighted during the launch was Proton’s continued commitment to the local market. General Manager of New Vehicle Sales, Marc Pontifex, addressed attendees, noting, “This launch is a continuation of Proton’s commitment to delivering value, innovation, and quality to our customers.”

Overall, the All-New Proton X50 presents a well-rounded package, blending modern design, updated technology, and proven performance in a way that continues to strengthen Proton’s position in Trinidad & Tobago.
