The local electric vehicle landscape continues to evolve, and now there’s a new contender joining the mix. BYD Trinidad, through its authorized distributor Lafast Motors, has officially welcomed the BYD Dolphin Mini to its growing EV lineup.

As interest in electric mobility continues to rise across Trinidad and Tobago, consumers are increasingly looking for options that balance practicality, range, and affordability. The Dolphin Mini arrives positioning itself firmly within the entry-level EV market with an introductory price of TTD $199,000.

With an estimated range of around 380 km, it offers more than enough for daily commutes, helping to ease one of the most common concerns surrounding EV ownership, range anxiety.

Being part of the BYD family also means the Dolphin Mini benefits from the brand’s well-known Blade Battery technology. Designed with safety and durability in mind, the Blade Battery has become one of BYD’s defining innovations in the EV space.

From a design perspective, the Dolphin Mini carries a youthful and slightly sporty character. Sharp lines and a compact hatchback stance give it a lively presence on the road. Inside, the layout remains clean and modern, centered around a large touchscreen infotainment system while still retaining physical controls for key functions. An interesting touch is the placement of the gear selector, which sits neatly alongside these controls on the center console.

As Trinidad and Tobago’s automotive landscape continues to shift toward electrification, the arrival of the Dolphin Mini adds yet another dimension to the conversation. It will be interesting to see how this compact EV finds its place among local drivers looking to make the transition to electric mobility.
