Circuit Racing Event #2 wasn't just another race day, it marked Mazda Trinidad & Tobago’s official debut as the Title Sponsor of the Caribbean Spec Miata Series. Seeing Mazda align with the Miata racing community feels like a perfect fit, and it’s a partnership that will no doubt help push local motorsport even further.
Now, onto the action, and what a day it was! The weather decided to spice things up, with wet conditions keeping the pack tight and the racing unpredictable. Justin Wortman and Liam Bartlett put on a proper show, going head-to-head, swapping positions lap after lap. In the end, Wortman secured the top step of the podium with Bartlett right behind in second. David Coelho delivered his usual steady performance to round out the podium in third. Well done, gentlemen!
The young guns, Shane Sheppard and Adam Pinheiro, were holding it down mid-pack. Shane seemed to enjoy the slippery conditions and picked up some well-earned style points, while Adam may have gotten a bit too enthusiastic, giving the wall a little love tap just meters before the finish on the final lap. Thankfully, Adam is okay, though his car might need some attention.
It was also great to see John-Michael Sabga back on the grid. Christian Hospedales put in a solid drive. And as for Ross Viera? Well…let’s just say he was spotted in the pits taking a well-deserved nap. Maybe he figured he’d give the youngsters their moment to shine, haha!
